“Christians can't settle for wholesomeness because only holiness will do.”

Books. Informing and inspiring God's people to think Christian.

When my son was born, a nurse asked my wife what she should list as my profession on his birth certificate. My wife answered, "theologian." I have owned that label ever since. Whether working as an academic dean, nonprofit leader, podcast host, speaker, or author, my goal remains the same: doing faithful theology that builds up the church for the glory of God and the sake of the world.

my story
I became a Christian during my sophomore year in college through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. I then began the long journey of learning to follow Jesus. With the encouragement of family, friends, and mentors who invested in me, I embarked on what my wife and I call "the longest, most expensive discipleship program ever" — twelve years of theological education. I earned degrees from Moody Theological Seminary (MDiv), Wheaton College (MA in Biblical Exegesis), and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (PhD in Theological Studies), and, more importantly, was mentored by instructors who taught me what it means to live as a faithful disciple of Christ.

My formation didn't end with my education. God continued to surround me with people who challenged me to think and live differently. Over the past two decades I've taught at the collegiate level, served as an academic dean, led a Christian nonprofit, hosted a podcast, and written books — all with the same goal: to challenge and equip God's people to live faithfully under the authority of Scripture.

My work is not about chasing cultural trends. It is about helping Christians resist distortion and bear faithful witness in every sphere of life. That conviction is what drives the Thinking Christian platform — the podcast, writing, courses, speaking, and framework that form the core of my public work.

The thinking christian platform
Thinking Christian exists to form Christians who respond faithfully to God from within a given situation — not merely holding the right information, but developing the shared understanding that genuine faithfulness requires. The podcast has reached nearly one million total downloads, with a growing audience that spans pastors, ministry leaders, academics, and Christians serious about engaging a distorted world without being captured by it.Discipleship and Discernment in the Digital Age (InterVarsity Press, Fall 2026) is my most sustained effort to date — a theology of human formation for the digital age with a practical framework for Christians navigating technology, media, and a distorted cultural moment. I am also the author of Serpents and Doves: Christians, Politics, and the Art of Bearing Witness, and several other books exploring Christian formation, discipleship, and public theology.
